Contributions of the Nile River
The Nile River was used as a communication and trade route during the New Kingdom period. Once a year, flooding of the Nile River renewed dry farmlands in Ancient Egypt. Ancient Egyptians built homes and cities along the"Nile" because of its plentiful agricultural soil. The fertile soil allowed Egyptians to harvest and maintain crops in order to replenish their food supply throughout the year. Natural resources that grew along the Nile such as Papyrus reeds were used to make sandals, boats, baskets, mats, and paper.
